At Head & Heart, we know healing must include your physical self. Through therapeutic embodiment  practices, we facilitate deep listening to both your mind AND body. Distress and pain are often our bodies' way of calling attention to areas in need of attention. Rather than resisting these messages, you will learn to befriend them with curiosity, reestablish your mind-body connection, soothe your nervous system, release outdated narratives, break free of patterns of suffering, and cultivate empowerment, joy, and pleasure.

Trauma Therapy

Places of refuge do exist. Healing is possible.

Every life is challenged by scary and stressful experiences.  Whether you’ve survived an abusive relationship, a life-threatening accident or assault, or a childhood marked by neglect, those wounds can echo across all aspects of your life. Merely existing in your body can be traumatic in our culture. Whatever you’ve endured, we believe you. Your pain and distress are crucial insights into your environment and lived experiences. Let’s get curious about how you’ve survived this world so far and how you can release what no longer serves you or was never yours to carry.

  • We facilitate healing through an authentic therapeutic relationship and evidence-based techniques that reconnect the mind and body, specifically EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Both offer profound healing through acknowledging and releasing emotional pain stored in the body and rewriting the narratives forged in the midst of trauma. You will heal through overcoming reactivity and fear, creating new meaning from traumatic memories and becoming the hero of your story.

Humans are wired for connection. Intimacy challenges us to grow; our deepest healing (and challenges) happen in relationship. Struggling in a relationship is not a sign of failure. Many of us were never taught how to have healthy relationships.

We recognize that relationships come in many different arrangements. We respect who you love and welcome everyone into the work of therapy.

  • In our research-based relationship therapy, you will learn strategies to navigate differences with kindness and respect. Relationship therapy is not always about “fixing” issues, but is beneficial for folks interested in deepening intimacy, working through conflict and increasing security. We’re here to help before you feel hopeless.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescence is not for the faint of heart

We honor the profound odyssey of growing up. It’s challenging work, and seems to become more demanding and complicated every day. In every session, we infuse empathy, authenticity, and humor, often surprising teenagers with the realities that their “therapist” can actually relate to them - and that they may even enjoy their sessions! We model the vulnerability and transparency we know teens need to create a comfortable therapeutic relationship.

Rates/FAQs

  • No! We believe in the therapeutic relationship as a tool for growth. For some people, therapy is something they do for a short time to resolve a specific issue or reach a goal. For others, therapy becomes an ongoing part of their health and wellness routine. And for others it’s something in between. We will continually reflect on our progress and goals so we can find what’s best for you. There is no rush, other than feeling better faster!

  • We believe everyone deserves effective treatment. By implementing evidence-based techniques, we ensure each session counts and delivers real results.

    • Intake Appointment/Clinical Evaluation (all new clients): $200

    • Individual Therapy Sessions: $180

    • Couples Therapy Sessions: $200 (private-pay only)

    • Health Coaching Sessions: $130 (private-pay only)

  • Not all mental health therapies are equally effective. Not all therapy is synonymous with healing.

    "Evidence-based Practice" (EBP) refers to interventions that have been scientifically tested and proven to positively impact clients. These approaches are often more goal-driven, directive, and short-term.

    Head & Heart therapists attend EBP trainings and participate in consultation regularly. We know many old-school therapy models have been designed for, and tested on, a narrow population (white men). As skilled therapists, we apply the important clinical foundations of evidence-based models while creatively adapting these approaches for your individual needs.

  • We work with adolescents, adults and couples. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences into the work of therapy. This includes folks who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, folks of any size, folks with disabilities, and those with diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds. Our aim is to foster acceptance without reservation.
