Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) transforms emotional suffering into healing, growth, and freedom. It is widely assumed that psychological distress requires a long time to heal; however, repeated studies show that through EMDR people can quickly experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years. EMDR is a powerful therapeutic intervention that proves the mind can heal from emotional distress just as the body heals from physical trauma. This method helps you identify the root of your difficulties and eradicate them from your body and mind - all without speaking in detail or doing homework used in other therapies. EMDR has been demonstrated to effectively clear the effects of trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, and panic.
EMDR uses “bilateral stimulation”: your brain is activated on alternating left and right sides via moving the eyes, playing a sound in alternating ears, or by tapping gently on different sides of the body. Meanwhile, a supportive therapist helps you process memories and create powerful positive meaning from them on an emotional level. The bilateral stimulation helps your brain process information that got stuck due to emotional and sensory overload (similar to how the brain processes complex information during REM sleep). EMDR will empower you; your wounds do not just close – they transform.
